Keeping pool clean in high debris area

I have woods about 12-15' from my pool and keeping leaves out of it was HARD! A tall Weeping Willow was the worst! I spent $150 total and now there isn't a single leaf in the pool.

I bought:

Leaf Canister

Lil' Shark

Net

I took a scrap piece of deck board I had laying around and attach the net to the board and then mounted the board on the top rail just before the skimmer so the net opening is half way covered in water. It helps catch the large debris. The Lil' Shark & Leaf Canister takes care of the rest. I have NEVER needed to vacuum, scrub or net anything out of the pool since the day I installed them.

Can we get a pic of this? I'd love to see it in action.

Thanks Wayne - that sounds fantastic! I, too, would love to see a pic of your setup if you get a chance. Sounds like something we need!

Love that under water shot Wayne! I also like your American ingenuity in regards to the leaf rake and clamp. I'm going to have to steal that idea n save my 2 yr old granddaughter some time skimming my pool.

Beautiful! I am starting to get jealous of all these auto vacs....

Here are a couple of pics to show the size of the holes in my leaf net... the second one shows the net (black) compared to one of my pole skimmers.

And the reason it was still on....baby grackle. Glad to see they are finally out of the nest. This one got stuck in my gazebo and couldn't figure out how to get out. It was easier to just take him out than try chasing him around in there. ;-) He's lucky I'm a nice person.

On a positive note...this means I finally took the net off today!

Thanks!
I was a maintance mechanic for packaging equipment for 6yrs and been doing auto mechanic work for about 15yrs so I have learned that you gotta think outside the box. My skimmer basket was getting filled and plugged with the tiny seeds from the weeping willow and happen to have a extra net. The bracket that I used came with my sons baby monitor. It works great, I do have my discharge turned so it rotates the water counter clockwise and the floating debris go right in!

Thanks!
I was so tired of having to get in the pool to clean it good and in the winter it's just to cold for that so while at the pool store I asked her about a automatic vacuum she told me about the Lil' Shark but when she told me $230 I said oh **** no. Got home looked it up on Amazon and it was half the price and one of the reviews said to get a leaf canister so I picked that up too for $23ish, the pool store wanted almost $100! It has been the best $150 I have ever spent on the pool, EVER! My net poles haven't come off the hanging hooks since the day I got it!

I took a video of the LiL' Shark in the day light.

Woohoo for a net-free pool! My neighbors have a lovely heated pool and have been swimming for weeks - it's killing me!

I am sold on the Shark, if for no other reason than he looks cooler than the ladybug in the pool. ;) Seriously though, I appreciate you sharing your experiences. It looks like we have very similar settings/challenges so I'm hoping I can learn from your setup!

Im glad to help and hope you have the same luck I have had with it. Couldn't be happier!

I will note that sometimes when we get bad winds and rains and a stick gets in the pool, if the shark tries to "eat" it, it sometimes jams the vibrating weight that propels it and requires you to pull it up to the surface to get the stick out.
