Vacuum Inlet Jandy value

Hi
Our inground pool appears to have 2 main inlets, a skimmer and a vacuum inlet. The vacuum inlet has a safety cover which closes when the vacuum (Kreepy Krawler) is not being used. My question is should I set the jandy to the close position when the vacuum is not being used?
