I have a new 30'x54" AG 20k gallon pool I am installing. I live in Texas where it's hot and sunny with extended pool seasons. As for as equipment we bought a Hayward C3030 cartridge filter and the Pentair SuperFlo VS. I've been on the fence with the SWG selection but I am about to pull the trigger and go with CircuPool SI-45 plus. Is there any negatives to having an over sized swg?

Yes, oversized is recommended. Get one rated at least twice your pool volume.

If you get a oversized swg cell, for example a 40K vs a 20K, you can run it at 1/2 the output to achieve the same FC, which means it should last twice as long.
the little attitional cost of the upgraded size isnt all that significant when compared to replacing the small cell twice as often as the larger one.

Thanks for info guys. That's is exactly what I was thinking in terms of how much less the larger cell would have to be driven to achieve the same output as as smaller cell so I figured it would a little longer.
