Question about CYA

My CYA reading shows zero. I poured 5 lbs in a sock yesterday and it dissolved, shouldn't I have some sort of reading by now? Thanks

Not necessarily, it can take up to a week to register on a test.

As it says in Recommended Pool Chemicals

Solid cyanuric acid can take up to a week to fully register on the test, so it is best not to test the CYA level until one week after adding some.

Pool math says 80 oz of stabilizer will only raise CYA by 27. Most testers won't read below 20, some below 30. Even if the stuff is 75% dissolved, you still won't get a reading.
