Am I correct for a goal of 50 ppm in a 20500 gal pool I need 50 lbs of boric acid? I will be starting with a new liner and water. Or are borates naturally present?

I come up with 49lbs, so yes. No, borates are not naturally present, if you haven't added any then there aren't any borates in your pool.
