Quality of Chemicals and ingredients?

Is there a difference in brands of various pool chemicals. specifically looking at DE, but thought I would throw the question out for all chemicals that you'll put in. I typically buy my chemicals solely based on price.

I don't know if this is the right thread for this question but I wasn't sure where it should go.

If it's pool filter DE buy the cheapest.

Saving money on chemicals, buy the store brands of the suggested products we use. Most products Pool Stores sell are much, much higher than the grocery store equivalent we use. Things like "Alkalinity Up" which is nothing more than Arm&Hammer baking soda.
