We have an 24 foot round, 13,500 gallon bauq pool that has started growing what appears to brown algae. We have brushed,vaccumed and spent big $$ trying to rid our pool of this problem but it will not go away. We want to convert to BBB ! My first question is do we need to get rid of the brown "whatever it is" before we start the conversion ?

No. The conversion will include large doses of chlorine which will get rid of the brown stuff at the same time.
