Hello guys, I recently converted to SWG. Is it necessary to install a Sacrificial Anode ??? I mean do they work ??? I believe they are installed in the skimmer basket.

Unless you have aluminum in contact with the water (common only on automatic pool covers) there is not normally any reason to install an anode.

Aahh, thanks Jason !!! Interesting.... My PB just called to schedule an opening of the pool. Wanted to sell me all kinds of chemicals. I told them I just installed a SWG. They said I need a sacrificial anode installed in the skimmer basket, 22.00. I was just curious. I mean 22.00 will not hurt, I just wanted your opinions. Thank you.

I've got to admit, everytime anode talk rolls around here I get nervous. I have an automatic cover. I have no idea if I have an anode?

They put one in my pool filter system, drilled a hole in the pipe and clamped this device around the pipe so the water goes through around the anode, it doesn't look much different now than when they put it on.

It doesn't look like the anode is all corroded or anything looks about the same as when it was installed approx 2 years ago.
Wow, thanks for the pics!!! The experts on this site did say they are not normally installed and/or needed. I appreciate the feedback on this.
