Cartridge Filter Cleaner

Hi

Do any of you that have cartridge filters use some sort of "chemical" cleaner on your filters? I have just been spraying them off with a steam of water but I noticed there are dedicated cleaners made for this.

Are they worth the money?
Is this step really necessary?
Any "home made" cleaners that work just as well?

I wanted to use the same solution on my robot cleaner filters as well.

Thanks!
Dan

It is quite rare that a cartridge needs a chemical cleaner. But if you do need to clean a cartridge, automatic dishwasher detergent is better than nearly all of the cleaning potions on the market. Use one cup of detergent for every five gallons of water.
