Cleaning Cartridge Filters

As I understand it, the only reason to use acid is if you have some hard calcium deposits on the cartridge. That is the only way to disolve them. Otherwise, the methods listed by others should be more than sufficient to clean almost any cartridge.
 
The last time I washed mine, I rinsed them to knock the debris off. Then, I dunked them in warm water where I poured in a couple of cups of TSP (in the laundry tub) so they were submerged for about 30 minutes. I then blasted them with the hose nozzle to rinse them.
