Will adding chemicals to skimmer hurt SWG?

Because I thought it would disperse the chemicals better, I added bleach and CYA at different times to the skimmer of my ABG. I mean a LOT of bleach... enough to get it to a FC level of 40 (to battle some algae). The SWG was not on at the time, but when I read the manual today it said specifically NOT to do that. Will it damage the plates or something?

Regardless of your SWG, FC of 40 is potentially damaging to your pool surface....depending on your CYA.

Probably didn't hurt a thing but it is a good plan to measure and dispense carefully when adding anything thru the skimmer.

Why did you need 40ppm FC?

Was dealing with an algae problem and misread the size of the bleach bottles.
