Lower cost variable speed pump that will link with a solar controller?

I was looking at the hayward max flow sp2302, http://www.amazon.com/Hayward-SP2302VSP-Max-Flo-Variable-Speed-Certified/dp/B00OLSWQS6

But it was brought to my attention that that pump has no provisions for being controlled by anything external. For example I can't have the pump turn on or ramp up when the solar controller calls for heat. I am not sure if this is something I for sure want, but it would be nice to have the capability to add this feature in the future i suppose.

What solar controller? You might ask Hayward directly because they don't always list everything that is compatible.

Well right now I have a very old compools unit. Im trying to decide if I should revive it or get a one that can control the pump. Looking at the hayward controller, it only has a high voltage output. Meaning if I had an old style pump with no timeclock I could control it, but it doesnt link with the pump http://www.hayward-pool.com/pdf/manuals/AquaSolarGL-235.pdf

Yeah I know my signature is lacking, I have been putting it off because I am replacing all of the equipment etc.

Hayward has two pumps, EcoStar(2hp impeller) and TriStar VS (1hp impeller) that can be linked via relays, if available, or through the actuator ports on a Compool. A little complicated but it can be done. I strongly recommend if you get a variable speed pump you purchase a control matched with that pump. Private message me if you would like to talk.
