white calcium like deposit on pool cover. indoor pool

Hi

Has anyone come accross this. A white calcium like deposit on pool cover. I ws told it was the result of algae built up residue after cleaning off the algae.

Does anyone know of how to remove it? power washing does not touch it. http://easyhosting.net/poolcover1.jpg

Doesn't look or sound like anything algae related. Calcium would be a guess, but it could be most any mineral present in the water or pool chemical added.

Can you chip a small piece off and add it to a little acid to see if it fizzes?

To really give advice, we'll need a good set of test results. TA, Hardness, CYA particularly, as well as a description of what kind of chemicals you use in the pool for chlorination and pH adjustment.
