cleaning skimmer baskets

Is there a trick to cleaning skimmer baskets. I swear I can never get mine clean, despite pressure washing, brushing, etc.
I know I saw somewhere an aluminum basket somewhere and was wondering if anyone has one and is it easier to clean?
Pros/cons....and where in heck did you find it.

I use skimmer socks in mine, rinse them out with hose. They last about 5 weeks. Some people have used knee highs.

Sorry I should have been more specific. It's not the skimmers on the pool side, I'm talking about the basket near the pump.

I just rinse my pump basket with a hose, inside and outside. Very little left in it afterwards.

I just take mine out, hold it upside down and knock it on anything hard. The only thing still in it is Dog hair which I have to take out with my hand. Keep in mind, most of the stuff in my pump skimmer is leaves as it is the primary(and only) skimmer for our pool most of the time.
