Skimmer return placement

Daveva, they are all like that in above ground pools. If you want an additional return, you'll have to cut the hole, add the necessary hardware and run additional plumbing, all the while making sure your pump can handle the extra return placement.

The standard setup is pretty good. Ideally you want the skimmer to be where ever the wind tends to blow leaves. Other than that it doesn't make much difference where the return is relative to the skimmer.

One really valuable thing is to make sure you have or upgrade to a return fitting that can be aimed sharply to the side and then aim it away from the skimmer so water comes out more or less parallel to the wall and just a little bit down towards the floor. That will get a good circular pattern of water movement going, as well as promoting mixing of water at different depths, which is ideal.
