Fiberstars pool light

I have a 20 year old Fiberstars pool and spa light system. After being installed for 20 years the light intensity has diminished. I want to remove and clean and/or replace the prisms below the waterline. Is it necessary to drain below their level in order to remove them? I was told by a pool service guy that draining was not necessary. Very little information is online about this system.

I don't really know all the different variations on Fiberstar lights produced over the years, but I though that everything except the fibers were in the light engine enclosure.

What type of fiberstars pool light is it? Is it is a niched pool light that is 10" or so wide, or fiber system that has lines of fiberoptic that go to a lens end piece? A picture would help
