Muriatic Acid- how much can I add at one time?

How much muriatic acid can be added at one time? We have only been adding 16oz at a time then waiting four hours, retesting and adding the balance if still needed. Is it ok to add 32oz at one time? We use the dilution method and add it to the deep end of the pool in front of a return. Thanks!

Add as much as you need to achieve the desired result.

No need to dilute it (that is just more handling). Just slowly pour it in front of a return jet in the deep end (pencil size stream). If you sit and kind of float the bottle in the water, you can pour the acid only a few inches and avoid splashing.

Should be able to retest and get an accurate result within an hour.

Use PoolMath to calculate how much you need. If you are making a large PH change (0.5 or more) then add two thirds of what it says, otherwise go ahead and add all of what it says.

Remember that you need to enter your current TA and Borate levels for PoolMath to calculate PH changes correctly. If you don't know what Borate is, you can assume it is zero.
