Ultra pure automatic water cleaner

I have a uv ozone genarator on my salt water pool. Recently I started getting air in my pump from it. Does anyone know if I need it, because I was thinking of getting rid of it. From what I have read, it's something you really don't need. According to the pool contractor it helps keep my ph from going up to high and keep my pool from getting algae, I figure that as long as I maintain it. It should be ok.

I recommend disconnecting it and leaving it off. Ozone adds nothing to a standard residential pool and costs attention and maintenance.
