Can you shock a pool in the winter

Hello - I live in dallas. I have neglected the pool this winter. I have some algae growing in it even though it is brutally cold. The algae is on the sides and appears to be a greenish maybe greenish brown. Is it possible to shock a pool at these low temperatures?

Hi Anthony,
yes indeed you can SLAM your pool in the Dallas wintertime. No problem at all. With the cooler water temps and lesser degree of UV at this time of year, I wold think it will go relatively quickly for you.

Yep SLAM away. Winter is not a problem.

Yes, also in Dallas area and I had the same problem a couple of years ago. SWCG stopped working and algae didn't. Now, I pour a gallon of bleach in every few weeks and it is great.
