Borax voids warantee??

I stopped in at the spa store yesterday to get some pH down b/c I was going to add borax for the first time on a fresh fill last night. The main guy there said they don't carry borate test strips b/c the acrylic manufacturer says that adding anything but Chlorine or Bromine will void the warantee... even though EVERYONE adds stuff like bicarb and biphosphate for adjusting TA and pH.

Can anyone confirm that borate will do NOTHING to the acrylic?

I am sure the spa store sells several products that contain borates, though you have to dig through their MSDSs to figure out which is which.

What a bunch of liars. See ProTeam® Spa Gentle Spa which has this MSDS showing that it contains Sodium tetraborate pentahydrate. 20 Mule Team Borax contains sodium tetraborate decahydrate so is the same except for the hydrated water content.
