Hi,

1) Is the Badu Eco Wise cartridge filter available in the US and do you have experience of it? (The Badu is distributed by Spec Pumps in South Africa.)
2) If yes, I want to know if there is a better way to clean this filter besides just hosing it with the garden hose, eg. By soaking in a large bucket for a period with a type of detergent/washing powder added to the water? Mine is the Eco Wise-2.
3) Must it be hosed just on the outside, or should I use a 90 degree nozzle that can reach down the inside then wash from the inside, pressure going outwards?
4) The local agent says "No" to my question of soaking in detergent, but I have the feeling they want to rather sell me a new filter which is quite expensive.

Please help.

Hi TeeKay,
Ive never heard of the Badu Filter, so I googled it! As it turns out, the cartridgee is a pleasted type just like we have here in the US. So....

There are several methods to cleaning it. Primarily which method is best to use depends on how dirty the filter is. Here is a link to the subject for you....
If its not too dirty, just hose it down with waterhose and pressure nozzle. Soaking it in automatic dishwasher tetergent is another method, then hose it down. If your filter has calcium deposits in it, the trisodiump phosphate works well...

Here is some reading on the subject for you...
