Fly-by-Wire Grilling

I hear ya Richard. While I do have gas grills, I also have a dedicated offset wood-burning smoker (a.k.a., stick burner) that I use primarily for briskets, pulled pork, and ribs. The main section (big drum) can also be used as a charcoal grill. Yes, it's a bit of effort, but again- provides more excuses for those cold beers

I'm such a Luddite. I still use a charcoal grill.

I'm a high-tech kinda guy, and I too use charcoal grill.

A few moves ago, we found ourselves without a big ol' grill and didn't want to purchase one until the outdoor kitchen went in. I bought a cheap charcoal grill. Fast forward 4 years, and I'm still using charcoal...albeit I've upgraded to a Weber kettle. Charcoal makes food taste so much better, I cannot imagine going back.

Jay, I also have a Weber kettle grill and wouldn't be without it. I've had it for 12 years now. Hard to find a better charcoal grill IMO.
