I'm in the process of rebuilding my Centurion Pac Fab motor with new bearings and a new seal. I have started to take the motor apart and found this part in the pump. I'm not sure what it is, but the green ring (seal?) on the inside is falling apart. Is this a problem? Can I replace just the seal or do I have to buy the whole part?

Found out it is a diffuser. Costs about $25 on line. I'm not sure how important the green ring is?
If it is in the pump and falling apart ... It is likely pretty important to replace it while you have the pump apart.
I'll just share the answer I use when people ask me if a particular part is necessary on their car: If the manufacturer could leave it out and save a few cents per car, they would.
