Patent on removing CYA from the water

Thers a patent application out there for using melamine to reduce CYA.http://www.google.com/patents/US20130186837 have absolutely NO idea as to its status or viability. Just thought it was an interesting search result. Apparently green water is a by-product (so says the application) which would be disconcerting even if it worked.

While that does work in principal, it works out very very poorly in practice. There was a product based on that patent, but it was very expensive and tended to leave the pool cloudy in a way that was very difficult to clear up. They eventually took it off the market.

Ok. Thanks. Good info. I certainly wasn't promoting it... Just saw it as an interesting result on a search.

I believe the cya test is a similar (same?) process. Turn the pool cloudy then try to filter it out. Does not sound like it worked very well or they would be billionaires.
