Install of replacement jet internals

I have to replace two waterway jet internals on my spa - a cluster storm and a polystorm. The jets have a cutout on the side of the back. I have attached a picture of one. Is there a way to tell which direction the cutout should be installed? I have a feeling it has to do with aeration and it should be installed in the general direction of the aerator but I am not sure. Thanks for any help.
