Pool closed without shocking. Should I shock it now?

Pool was closed 3 weeks ago without being shocked first. Water lowered below skimmers, lines blown out and plugged, cover installed, ect. Water temp was in the low 50s and chlorine was 5ppm (CYA 60) when it was closed. Should I shock it now (with bleach) or would I be wasting time and money?

Don't worry. Open it before the water get's to 60 and you should be fine.

More importantly, you need to circulate water when you add virtually ANY chemistry so you don't want to elevate your chlorine without a way to circulate it. In short, don't do it.
