My CYA and FC is currently 40 and 5. What does the shock FC mean in the chart? Sorry, newb here.

Shock is the FC level that will kill algae. If you have algae that's the FC level that needs to be maintained to kill the algae bloom.
Here is the process you'll have to use if you have an algae bloom to kill it off.

If your CYA is 40 they you are correct in trying to maintain the FC at 5 and you need to never let it drop below 3 to maintain clean and clear water.
