anybody use an aftermarket RF remote?

i'm looking for a way to control volume without needing a line of sight remote. i think they make RF remotes that work thru wall that retrofit. ideas?

I haven't tried this yet but want to!! You install a special rechargable battery into your existing remote and it is supposed to turn it into a wireless RF remote. That way you keep all of the functionality of the original remote.

Bought at Frys, about $30....it was the cheapest one I've seen. I use to for my stereo equipment that's in a cabinet so I don't have to open the door anymore; their about two feet apart and work great at that range, maybe 2feet apart.

I am using the remote control extender that Brittmer is talking about. I use it for my pool area and have the receiver and cd player safely mounted in a garage storage room out of the weather and where there is easy access to electric.

It is as simply as it sounds....you use a replacement recharagable battery in your remote (limited to remotes that use AA and AAA batteries). I haven't tried to test the limits on the range, but I'd have used it sucessfully and regulary at a distance of 75'. My signal has to penetrate a brick wall to get to the receiver.

Below is the company that I purchased the unit from (as well as other items from time to time....so it has my recommendation), and this item is slightly cheaper than Smarthome.
