New Pool, minor filter leaks

They just fired up my new gunite pool on Thursday and noticed some minor leaks at the filter. There appears to be a leak at the backwash hose even when the unit is operating in normal filter mode..

Should water even be heading in that direction? I'm thinking not... Below is the unit I have.. Thanks, Chuck

There should be no leak in that configuration. Sounds like they need to come back and fix.

Sounds like the backwash valve is leaking, it should not be. You could pull the valve top off (6 screws) and inspect that there is not something wrong with the spider gasket or a little piece of debris holding it slightly open.

Do I just shut off the filter to look at that?

Filters don't have power switches, pump motors do

But, yes. Ensure the pump is off and open up the valve.
