How much Bleach do I use?

Hello, when I bought my pool 6 years ago I was told not to use household bleach, now I'm finding articles saying you can.
my question is, how much do I use, I lost tract of my algecide application and I'm turning green, I would normally use 2- 3 pounds of shock treatment to kill off the alge, but if I were to use regular bleach, how much is equivelent :?:
