Low salt content?

Hi Folks My wife and I looked at a 12x24 AGP package today I asked about adding a SWG to the package and the guy told me the one they recommend requires a lower salt content in the pool water than is consider normal. he went on to tell me there was nothing else needed to run it other than adding salt to the pool whenever it became to low.

I've done some reading in the area of the forum, I don't remember seeing anything about this. I didn't get make or model on the unit, I'm kicking myself for not getting more info.

Anyone know something about this?

For specific salt level recommendations, please refer to the manual for your SWG.
You would need CYA in addition to salt.
Have a look at Pool School, in particular ABCs of pool water chemistry, recommended pool chemicals and water balance for SWGs.
