Suitable pool cover for northern CA.

Hi,

I am a newbie to these forums and apologize if this is asked and answered (and I could not find it).

I have a kidney shaped pool (approx. 15 ft x 36 ft). I want to cover this pool so as to reduce water evaporation the best I can. That is the top factor, others dont matter as much (safety/heating etc). Online research shows many options and I am not sure which is the best choice. It does not snow where I live and its fairly hot, but not that windy. With this information, I have following list of questions, that I would appreciate replies to:

1. What cover type is the best? (winter/solar/etc)
2. Would rectangle be the best or should it be custom fit?
3. What is the best value for money? (I am seeing that covers with weights to hold them on the edges are not looking so popular, but haven't found a local shop to give me any estimates)
4. Any recommendations for pool cover shops in Bay Area (CA)?

Thanks in advance,
Prachi
