After a few years I finally caved and my wife and I have decided to get a pool. We are not looking to do anything extravagant but want a pool to relax in, have enough room for company and be visually pleasing. We are outside people and most of the weekend and we are doing things around the yard so we do not mind working a little bit on things. Since we are out there so much the look of the pool really means a lot to us and we do not it overtaking our back yard even though we have a acre. The pool edge will be 15' off of the back porch. I will be building the pergola shown as I think I will save around 2k or more doing it myself.

We have selected one pool builder after many glowing recommendations from other past clients which are friends of ours and we would like to have the pool completed by Thanksgiving. The PB has been very accommodating with us by updating designs and quotes whenever we ask for them.

Does anyone see anything they would recommend changing or anything that throws up a red flag?

Perimeter - 101'
Area - 598 sq ft
Approx Gallons - 19,285
Length 35.4'
Width 18'
Play Pool - 3.5 x 4 x 5.5'
Tanning Ledge will be 8-10" deep

1" glass tile around perimeter
travertine for coping
aqua blue pebble sheen
Multiple umbrella anchors
Waterfall is 28' long w/ 2 extra tons to give it some more height in a areas. 8 waterfalls supplied by 3/4" lines. I do not know how these will be run from the pump. Looking for pointers.
Decking will be stamped concrete one color 722 sq ft approx.

12" x 16" box beams with 1/2" steel, shell is 8" thick gunite with 1/2" steel 10" oc

2 main drains, 2 skimmers, 6 returns. Eyeball on tanning ledge to keep watering moving.
Overflow
Pool Misor for auto fill
Hayward Variable Speed Pump - Ecostar SVRS SP3400VSPR
Hayward C4030 Cartridge Filter
Polaris 280
Hayward 500W light - only one of them
Chlorinator w/ Nature II Express
P4 Controller w/ wireless remote and base

We are also looking into adding a heat pump to extend a month before and after the season. Currently we are spec'd out with a Hayward 140K BTU and I am wondering how much electricity this will consume when it is running for a month or two. From my research it seems like a fairly large heat pump.

Re: Need Recommendations - New Pool Build - Haslet, Tx

The design looks really nice and I love the glass tile. I'll have to leave it to others to identify any red flags with the equipment but I will tell you that the few people I know who got stamped concrete said it became slippery and they wished they had picked something else - even though it looks really good. -Karen

Yep, they got the steel and plumbing in one day. The steel guys and the plumbers are the same company so they must work together well. I wasn't home unfortunately but the wife said there had to be at least 25 people here working on it at once. Fingers crossed shotcrete Monday morning!

Is it standard for the Polaris suction / input to be tied into the normal pool plumbing after the filter? For some reason I would think it would be tied to the main drain so you would always have water to move the Polaris around even if the main pump was not running.

Tile guys were a no show today. They are starting to **** me off. On the good side we got the pergola post set today. That was a larger chore than I thought. Mixing 33 bags of quickrete by hand wasn't that fun. On the upside I realized when you are building your pool it's okay to just pull the truck right in the yard to unload.
