Leaves in plumbing

I had our pool looking great and we had a storm come through and blew a bunch of leaves in the pool. By the morning the skimmer baskets were full and the rest of the leaves were on the bottom. So I vacuumed and then I lost all suction to one skimmer and the other one doesn't pull very well.
I tried sticking a brake cable from an old bike in there to dislodge the clog but it's deeper than that. Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

A drain king pushing water backward through the pipes from the pump might work.

You should never vacuum up leaves like that without a leaf canister in the hose.
