white powerdy discharge from my return

Hi all, I have a Pentair Sand Dollar filter, and I keep noticing a white milky discharge every time my filter starts up. This discharge stays milky for about 20 seconds and then clears up. I called my LPS, and of course I get the "we never heard of this occurance" answer.... Any thoughts?

PS I am running Zeobrite media, not sand....

Is it possible air is getting in the lines, and the discharge is really small air bubbles that once the air has cleared, it stops? Can you try catching some in a sample jar and seeing if it's air or actual white substance....
