Another Newbie needing some education

So I am new to owning a pool. I am getting a lot of sand and silt blown in from the area and need a way to vacuum it out. I looked at the skimmer and can't see how to plug in a hose in the skimmer. See attached photo. Anyone have any ideas?

I think your only option would be the plate style adapter. If you can find one that will fit that shelf area at the top of your skimmer.

I was in Lowes the other day and they had the plate style adapters in a couple of sizes. Measure across the top to figure out what size you need and Google away.
