It seems every connector I have (hose fittings, vacuum head, etc) has a smaller diameter at the beginning. Does anyone remove that part of the adapter to improve flow rate?
Would sawing off 1 1/4" taper improve circulation?

Perhaps I should add or restate - do they sell fittings/connectors that stat at 1 1/2"? The barbed pump to filter connectors do not seem to be appropriate when I tried to connect to a hose other than the thick rubber line those are made for.
