Hi,

What is the difference between Total Alkalinity and Adjusted Total Alkalinity? I had my water tested today at the pool store and the TA was 75 and ATA was 54.

My other numbers were

CYA 70
TC, FC 5
PH 7.4
THardness 94
Salt 3100

Thanks to anyone who explains. I have the Taylor test kit and the numbers were comparable.

At TFP we always use TA directly from the test.

Adjusted total alkalinity is used in the calculation of the Langelier saturation index (LSI). If you aren't trying to figure out your LSI, there really isn't any need for Adj TA.

If you really want to know exactly what is going on with Adj TA, read this topic, where we go into Adj TA in way too much detail.
