Ok guys I'm tired of running out to turn the filter on and off. What is a reliable timer I should get and where can I get it?

2nd ques, pump running at night or during the day?

1. Intermatic T104 (assuming your pump is 230V, T101 if it is 115V). They are bulletproof. Make sure to get the outdoor enclosure if it will be exposed to weather. Google them
2. Does not really matter. Run when power is cheaper or whenever is convenient, knowing that the pump should be on for 30-60 minutes before you test and after you add chemicals. Often good to run in a few short periods throughout the day.

My pump says 115/230. Guess it can go either way. Hayward superpump 1 1/2hp

Check the breaker or measure the voltage.

Its on a double 15amp breaker

Well, there you go, must be 230V, so the T104 is what you want ... either the T104P (plastic) or the T104R (metal).

I put a T104R on mine 3-4 weeks ago. Check around on prices. I got mine from zoro.com for $45 shipped. Lowes wants nearly $70, and some pool supply places want over $100.
