Ok to use chlorine neutralizer?

Just got back from vacation, i shocked it and put mesh pool cover on, back after 12 days, chlorine thru the roof. is there any side effects of chlorine neutralizer?

having a pool party in 2 days, need to lower it.

Why do you think you need to lower it? What are your CYA and FC levels?

Cya 45 to my eyes and 50 to my wifes eyes, lol

Fc. Is at 16, actually the party is tommorow.

Just swim and dont worry about it?

it is safe to swim up to shock level

IF ... your CYA was down to 40 you'd still be OK to swim at 16ppm FC but it might be a little irritating to your guests.

If you do add a neutralizer I'd wait till a couple hours before the party to see where it's come down to as it's always nice to be a little high before a party. You know "they" will be using some up and you might not need to lower it.

With 24 hours to go, the FC level will come down quite a bit on it's own. I don't see any reason a chlorine neutralizer could possibly be needed.
