Yesturday I was talking to a coworker that I've told about this website and the Pool Calculator. He's had a pool for a good while now and is tired of the pool store spending spree's and he seems to want to give BBB a try. Anyway, this conversation got me to thinking how lucky I've been to find this site as soon as we got our pool up and how after some reading I feel fairly confident our pool is going to be easy to keep up.
My question is, How would you go about doing this without the Pool Calculator?
Are there tables somewhere with the same information?
 
There are a large number of "rules of thumb" that people used to use. For example, one gallon of bleach adds the same number of ppm of FC to 10,000 gallons as it's percentage (one gallon of 6% bleach adds 6 ppm of FC to 10,000 gallons). Also, chemicals bought from a pool store frequently have dosing tables printed on the container.
