Pentair heater and controller question

I've got a pentair minimax heater and i7 controller.

It seems that when I hit the "spa" button, the heater fires up and reaches or exceeds the target temperature. As the water starts to cool, the heater does not readily fire up again.

I was told by Pentair that it is normal for the heater not to fire up until the temp falls 3-4 degrees below the target, but this seems excessive.

Anyone with advice about what might be the issue here?

Don't know too much about this but an engineer recently told me that the "thermo couple" in the units have an internal range that triggers when the heater goes on and off. Perhaps there is flexibility to adjust this range to allow you to lessen the range so it fires up/shut down sooner. Or you could research that to see if anyone out there has any tips on that.
