Removing filter basket on Jacuzzi Magnum Force Pump Help!

Hi there!

So I'm new to owning a pool (just purchased a house with one!) and learning how to take care of it but I'm having a problem with the pump filter basket on the Jacuzzi Magnum Force. I'm not sure if the owners before us ever took this thing off and cleaned it because it is seriously stuck on there good. Even my husband can't make the top budge even a little bit. I can see there's debris that needs to be cleaned out but was hoping you guys might have any tips/tricks to get this thing open.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Tips?

That pump does not look like the lid has any easy way to grip it ... bummer.
You could try a strap wrench or a belt and board to get some leverage.

No, it definitely doesn't! No handles that stick out on it or anything. You're supposed to just be able to twist it counterclockwise to unscrew it but this thing won't even budge. Not sure if trying to apply lubricant would help...

And no, there isn't really any good way to grip it. Doesn't have any handles or anything that stick out — you're just supposed to be able to twist it counterclockwise and unscrew it off.
