Replacing Single Speed Motor w/ Dual Speed Motor

Is it possible to replace just the motor on my current single speed pump with a dual speed motor, or do I have to replace the whole pump?

If I can replace just the motor, does it have to be the same manufacturer, or do I just need to make sure it fits & has the same THP (hp x sf)?

Am I going to have something special done to my wiring? The pump is hooked up to a timer.

You can replace just the motor with any brand 2 speed motor, just match the SFHP and frame shape. You will also need a new shaft seal and to add a switch to select speed after the timer .... like a house 3 way light switch.

I believe the replacement two speed motor for that pump would be the the A.O. Smith B2982.
