Are there stains that can be remove with AA, that are black in color or dark Brown? I ask because I had a stain which I thought looked like algae, but AA removed it. Thank you as always..
Iron stains can brown sometimes, and will be removed by an AA treatment. Likewise manganese stains (rare) can be a very dark brown almost black and are also removed with AA.
Black stains caused by copper will not normally be removed by AA.
It usually lasts a couple of hours to maybe a day, but the cold water is slowing down the process dramatically. All I can say for sure is that it will end eventually.
That is the question I answered. People don't do this very often when the water is cold, so I don't know how long. The total amount of chlorine used clearing out the AA will be the same, but the time could be much longer.
