Jandy PDA RS8 giving up the ghost ..

Hi Everyone,

I have a Jandy PDA-RS8 PDA from 2008 which is giving me trouble - here is the original thread.

http://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/3765-New-pool-in-Princeton-NJ-this-summer

Apparently the relay that controls the solar valve (little black box on the back of the power board) gave up the ghost two weeks ago, and today the PDA remote stopped working (film that is part of the keys is tearing to that the keys stick, rendering the remote unusable).

Connected to the controller I have the following equipment
- Pentair Intelliflo VS3050
- pair of Hayward LED lights
- fiberoptic light for waterfall
- booster pump for cleaning robot
- valve 1 for solar
- valve 2 for waterfall
- Jandy Aqua Pure salt cell

I need your help with your expertise!

Question 1) Can I just replace the system with a pool only four channel system? I am not sure which of the functions use a channel; if solar does not count, 4 might work, right?
In other words, can I just use something like this http://www.westsidewholesale.com/jandy-pda-p4.html to replace the two broken components?

Question 2) If I switch to the iLink system, what parts will I need? It looks like this might replace the failing main controller and I can use iPhone/iPad/Android phone etc to control the pool ... tempting!

Thank you!

Just wanted to let y'all know I reached out to pool supply world with technical questions - an expert called me back right away - he knew his stuff, was helpful and I ordered the iAqualink 2.0 on the spot. Ordered it last Friday - he said it might take until the following week Wed-Friday to arrive with free shipping, but I actually received it on Monday. That's faster than Amazon Prime! The price was competitive, too.

Great service - and as of today I can control the pool by laptop, cell phone and iPad.

It's an 8 channel system (RS) so I can use all functions - see Jandy IQ20-RS iAquaLink RS 2.0 Interface Kit with PCB Board
