Has anyone here heard of, or own the Hayward AquaRite Low Salt Generator system offered in Canada? I am in the process of finding a SWG and came across this. I am intrigued by it because it only costs slightly more than the regular AquaRite system, and with the lower salt concentration needed, the savings from less bags of salt to be added at the start and at the beginning of each season should more than make up for it. Also, it should be more gentle on rest of the pool equipment. Link below:

I am guessing the US model equivalent is this:

I don't know about there in Canada, but here in the states a 40 lb bag of salt is only $4. It took 1200 lbs to get mine in range, and it was only $120 plus tax. You need almost half that. :) Guess it depends on the price difference, if it isn't very much, I will agree that it may be the better way to go if it's reliable.

I've never used anything but water softener salt. I buy mine from Lowe's and I believe you have Lowe's stores in Canada. Down here the additive free water softener salt is in a blue bag and sells for $4.99. It is called "Diamond Crystal 40-lbs Salt Solar Crystals." Good stuff and I consider that to be a good price.
