How much bleach?

I have a 13' above ground pool that holds app. 2500 gallons.
I got the water clear with 5 96 oz household bleach but it still registers as 0 when i do the chlorine test. How much do I need to get it to 3-4 ppm?

FYI, PoolMath at the top of the page will help you know how to dose the pool. Problem is, if it's getting eaten quickly, you may have a problem with algae.

I tried pool math but apparently didn't use it correctly because it told me to add 5 oz!
I don't think my test kit has CYA it's a 3 step kit from I think HCH
I'll post more info when I return home

5 oz won't do anything. Please put all of your pool specs in your signature. It will help everyone answer your questions.

Adding an amount of chlorine to achieve a certain ppm level isnt a 1 time deal, you have to consider what is in your pool consuming chlorine aside from normal loss from sun.

Yes. I, and others, would like to know your CYA level. If you have no or very low CYA, you are burning off all your FC to the sun. I have a hunch that this is what is happening. If you must go to the pool store for the results, it is better than nothing but please do not purchase anything. Post the results and we can go from there.

pH = 7.2
