I just read on this thread and my pool is pretty bad and I can get 100lb bucket of cal-hypo 68% for free. So this would be a good start on cleaning up the mess? Also the CYA level is at 0 so should I clean it best as I can with elbow grease and then get my CYA up before adding the cal-hypo since the sun will just eat it up? I live in texas

Free is an excellent deal. However, before you go for it, make sure that adding a lot of calcium to your water isn't going to be a problem. 100 lbs of cal-hypo will raise your CH level by roughly 300. If your CH level is low right now that might not be a problem, but if you already have a fairly high CH level it could be an expensive mistake to use cal-hypo.
Being in TX, I am going to go out on a limb that your CH is already high ... maybe so out of the tap.
