Installed a wall skimmer and an additional return. As I was trimming the vinyl at edge of piping before attaching nut, my hand skipped and I sliced an extra inch laterally. Anyhow drained to below tear, patched, but now leaking at the gasket and on the female 1/2 inch thread where I attached a Hayward male ball valve fitting (this leak not related to tear).
Can I use silicone around gasket?
I used Teflon tape on screw threads when attaching ball valve but should I use plumbers putty instead.
I drained pool again and installed another big patch on inside completely covering original hole. I siliconed the outside around gasket and used plumbers putty on inner thread when attaching ball valve. Will fill it up and see.
